The west coast has had a freakish amount of winter weather over the last month. Our property is up a long steep driveway which prevents me from getting out to do my regular work.
So I have been using this time to practice some new skills.
My nails have only been long and strong once in my life: during pregnancy. Otherwise, I have soft, splitty ones that drive me nuts.
I recently started watching nail art videos on Instagram, and from there I set my mind to learning how to grow my nails and paint and decorate them to keep them strong, healthy and pretty!
This is a visual tutorial of that process:
I first learned how to apply polish without getting it everywhere.
Then I started a weekly routine to get my nails and cuticles healthy.
Mix 1/4 cup epsom salts, 1/4 cup baking soda and a splash of lemon juice with some warm water. Soak for 5 minutes, remove polish, and soak again. Push back your cuticles while soaking.
This is my polish remover of choice:
And this is my nails after soaking:
Use a small makeup brush dipped in polish remover to clean around and under nails.
After:
Then file and buff with a four-sided device such as this:
Then apply polish and decorate:
I have not taken pics of my decorating process but here are some designs I have created recently:
I am having so much fun and my nails are getting stronger and healthier every week.
Anyone can be a nail art expert, with enough snowy weather!
